All of us, and I do mean all of us, in rescue firmly believe in the Spay and Neuter (Get ‘em Fixed) philosophy.
Unwanted litters face a grim future and we can’t save all of them.
If you’re reading this and you’re not convinced, please contact me at the email address below.
There are days when, by the time we leave the shelter, we are at our wit’s end talking with people who come through the door with unwanted litters of puppies or kittens.
Many times they say the litter was “dumped” on their property – but quite often we know they have unaltered pets and “Guess What?” now they have puppies or kittens they don’t want so they see a rescue as the perfect dumping ground.
We aren’t a dumping ground and it isn’t the best long-term solution.
That solution is spay and neuter ….. castrate…. Get ‘em fixed…..sterilization… by any word or group of words you want to use.
Stop the madness…. Prevent unwanted litters!!
For people who live in communities where there are more adopters than there are available animals – oh, if only we had that problem.
Our goal is to face that challenge – but it isn’t even on the horizon yet.
We know it’s there though and that keeps us going.
Trust me, we are a long, long, long way from that goal in Oklahoma.
Answer the calls for just one day and you head home muttering, under your breath, Spay/Neuter – – please please please spay/neuter.
