Trap-Neuter-Release: Dealing with Feral Neighborhood Cats
Even before the shelter’s construction was completed, PAAS started a Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program to deal with the problem of feral cats in local neighborhoods.
When neighborhood residents call PAAS to report a community of feral cats, they are loaned a live-release trap in which to catch the cats and are given capture tips.
They transport the cats to one of our four participating local veterinarians who spay or neuter the cats at no cost to the neighbor, who then returns the cats back to the neighborhood.
Anecdotal evidence has shown that this program has visibly reduced the number of feral cat communities.
